About

How It Began

My husband Eric and I were both born and raised on farms in Alabama. Our parents grew their own food, had milk, beef cows, and had chickens for meat and eggs.

After twenty years of marriage, living in sub-divisions, and working in the corporate arena. We realized we wanted and needed to get back to our roots. We wanted to grow our own food and have chickens for eggs initially.

I’m retired, so I have more time for the day-to-day farm duties. I am able to look after the farm, the animals, etc. and report back to Eric. He works less than ten minutes from our farm.

Our Perfect Location

Fortunately, we didn’t have to look far and discovered land in rural Powder Springs, Ga. We were blessed to have well water and a creek that runs through the property. there were also some structures on site that we were able to use as a chicken house and wood shed/shelter for our farm animals. Hence, we hit the ground running!

First, we adopted two dogs because it gets “real dark” in the back woods at night and coyotes come through. Next, we fenced in a vegetable garden and added a fence around the building that would serve as our chicken house. A few years later, we started raising meat birds and pigs for meat as well. Soon our grandchildren became interested in all the animals and developed a shared passion for the farm life as well. Thus, the legacy began.
